Our Three Purposes

To love God

When Jesus was asked what the greatest commandment in the Scriptures was, He said: ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment…’
— Matthew 22:37-40 ESV

At New Hope We Seek to Develop Authentic Expressions of Loving God by:

  • Spending Time with Him in Intimate Conversation: Prayer and Spiritual Devotions

  • Growing Deeper in Our Understanding His Ways by Reading the Bible

  • Experiencing the Presence of Jesus In Worship and Daily Submission

To love others.

Our second purpose is the natural outcome of loving God. Jesus said it this way when He Identified the second greatest commandment:

‘And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.’
— Matthew 22:37–40 ESV

If we love God with all our heart, we will love our neighbor as ourselves. It functions like faith and works; if we truly have the first, the second naturally follows

The Apostle Paul said it like this:

Don’t do anything from selfish ambition or from a cheap desire to boast, but be humble towards one another, always considering others better than yourselves. And look out for one another’s interests, not just for your own.
— Philippians 2:3–4 TEV

To serve our world.

Our 3rd purpose seeks to follow Jesus example and to fulfill the Great Commandment

The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
— Matthew 20:28 ESV
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.
— Matthew 28:19–20 ESV

To Be IN Christ the is to take up Jesus’ mission
